After a ridiculously busy June, I’m making an effort to get back on track with this semi-daily project. I hope I didn’t lose many of you in this absence, and that if I did, I can bring you back!
Thank you so much for the continuous support of my work. I’ve been away for a month, but there wasn’t a day when I didn’t get at least a handful of Flickr notifications. Thank you so very much to taking time out of your days to see my work. It’s a privilege to have an audience like you guys.

Animated artwork by Rebecca Mock

Fine, detailed and subtle animated artwork created by New York illustrator Rebecca Mock. Apparently the animated gif back to stay, gradually more and more people are exploring this old format and customers asking for shouting. Several of these illustrations were created for the New York Times or The Warlus magazine.

Ohhhh, I JUST saw Andreas Schlüter’s Apollo and Daphne!! Very much inspired by this fella.

Go check out the SCHLOSS BAU MEISTER exhibit at the Bodemuseum in Berlin, on Museum Island! It also has a Medusa from Bernini on loan! :)

an attempt at sanity (by Ana Luísa Pinto [Luminous Photography])
33/?
I’m not staging a comeback, but maybe I’m trying to. All I know is that things are moving, they’re changing, and I need something to hold on through that change, so that I don’t make my people’s lives even heavier with my own. So I photographed. And in my mind, I told myself over and over that I’m going to do this daily, that I’ll make this a proper diary again. A part of me knows I won’t, I guess. Or maybe I’m just trying to jinx it. But the truth is, I’m lousy at keeping my photographic commitments when life and commercial work get in the way. So I’ll try. I’ll try to get some calm, some sanity in me through my pictures again.

It was magical there. So inspiring. Made me want to write more fantasy novels.

the dead girl’s diary (by Ana Luísa Pinto [Luminous Photography])
[Every week, there will be a letter, going through the order of the alphabet. Every Monday, I’ll open the Chambers Compact Dictionary and I’ll randomly pick a page of the said letter. Out of that page, I’ll randomly pick a word. Darling heart will watch to ensure I do it right. And every Friday, there will be a picture based on that word.
Welcome to the Alphabet Tales. ]

Book, book, n. a collection of sheets of paper bound together, either printed, written on, or blank; a literary composition; a division of such, a libretto, a record of bets, (fig.)any source of information, (pl.) formal records of transactions — v.t. to note in a book; to engage in advance, to buy a ticket.]

I wanted a weird word and I got the most ordinary of all the words in the letter B. Oh well. I think I like the result anyway.

I was planning to take this as a sort of homage to my friends who are doing NaNoWriMo, but the concept ended up getting away from me. Still, I’m happy with the final result.
(there’s a second version in the comments, slightly different. But I ended up liking this one better.)

The best photographer in the world. If you ask me. But I might be biased.

Reblogged from La vie en rose

I buy all your favorite foods so I will be ready when you come home
because once I did this and you said “This is how I know you love
me.”

I go on long walks alone and think about a poem my friend wrote
that goes ”This is how you die by distance.

I hum the sound of the dial tone under my breath.

I stare at my hands and wonder at their uses. I consider pawning
my thighs. I consider auctioning off my hip bones. I put my breasts in
a box on the top shelf of the closet. I do not need them now.

I think of all the things I have to tell you when I will see you.
Stories like:
I just found out pumpkins are technically fruits
and
Cary Grant’s first job was in a traveling circus
and
Most mammals are born able to walk and learn to run within minutes, so we are not crazy for moving so fast.

This morning I wrote your name in the steam on my mirror, even though I knew it would fade within minutes

In my best notebook I wrote “I miss you” ten thousand times.

I wrote “I think I am missing one of my ribs”

I wrote “I envy the way leaves know exactly when to fall from the branches and when to come back in the spring”

I wrote “Everyone else isn’t you. It turns out that’s a huge problem for me.”
